The project was to replace a fifty year old community pavilion located in a flood plane in the village of Margaretville, New York. The deck and tower were intended to provide maximum programmatic features above flood-line within code. The use of slatting allows for reduced flood level displacement and allows water to pass through the building. All materials used require limited maintenance for forty years. The village has embraced the pavilion as a symbol of the area; it has sparked numerous new activities such as: farmers markets, weddings, antique fairs, carnivals and is the home of an annual fund raiser for the fire department.
