The Helmut Lang Headquarters in Manhattan, New York City presented an unusual design challenge; the space needed to be designed as both a corporate headquarters as well as a fashion showroom. The space required enough versatility and durability to transform from a formal work space for 70 employees, to a catwalk and supporting event space, with minimal effort. To ensure such a transition, material selection, furniture placement, and office layout was carefully crafted. As a result, the aesthetic of the office is industrial with exaggerated vertical proportions, movable partitions and a mixed palate of subtle materials.
